Owlet Class

Welcome to Owlet Class

Owlet Class is where our youngest pupils start their time at Checkendon School. Pupils join us when they are ‘rising five’, and enter Owlet Reception Class where Mrs Wortley teaches, with help of Mrs Thomas.  All Reception aged children, (rising fives), are able to start school full time at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

The children's interests determine the direction of our  learning but the general themes we work within are:

Term 1-All about Me

Term 2-Space

Term 3-Once Upon A Time

Term 4-Animal Magic

Term 5-Wild and Wonderful

Term 6-Explorers

Term 5, Week 2

This week in Owlet class we have begun learning about the lifecycle of caterpillars.  We have read the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in English and German and created our own caterpillars using paint. Next week our very own caterpillars will arrive so that we can observe the magic of metamorphosis for ourselves!

We have continued to monitor our eggs closely; we are all very excited for the next stage laughing
