Term 1 2019 Rhino Class Learning

Dear parents and children

Welcome back to school, our new academic year of 2019-20. 

Our first term focuses on 'Go Green', looking at our environmental carbon footprint, renewable and non-renewable energy sources and the future. 

 

Our learning projects are:

Growth Mindset - what type of learners are we?

Go Green - natural resources, renewable and non-renewable energy sources and how to be environmentalists.

How can we make germs? Classification of animals, plants and micro-organisms.

Yes or no? Branching data bases - combining animal classifications with IT.

Our residentials - Year 5 to Path Hill and Year 6 to New Frontiers.

Important dates for your diary:

Wednesday 4th September - Mr Mark Chapman visit us to speak about being environmentally aware.

Friday 4th October - home learning project part way workshop (bring in all your work so far).

Monday 21st October - final home learning projects completed and brought to school to share.

Fridays - maths homework due in.

Thursdays - spelling tests. 

Mondays - homework diaries are updated for the week - parents to check and sign please. 

PE - Thursdays are swimming (12th September to 17th October) and Fridays are netball.

Daily - Go Green token books.

Daily - reading and times tables and division or other mental maths skills.

Weekly - home learning project task (30 minutes).

Year 5 residential Thursday 24th and Friday 25th October.

Year 6 residential Tuesday 22nd to Friday 25th October.

Last day of term Friday 25th October 3:20pm.
